It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Mary Evelyn Sutherland, age 80, of Amherst Head, NS.  Mary passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, April 28, 2014.

A country girl she was.  Born in Barney's River, NS, daughter of the late Donald and Greta (Perry) Sutherland.

Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Amherst.  She was a Practical Nurse for over 25 years, working at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, NB and at Lockharts Nursing Home in Amherst, NS.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She will be dearly missed by her children Larry (Karin) Gilroy, Lethbridge, AB, Leigh (Marney) Gilroy, Amherst, and Jeanne (Derrick Weatherbee) Gray, Amherst and Perry Gilroy, Pugwash;  6 grandchildren, Mark, Christopher, Andrew, Brandon, Katie and Sarah; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Jayce, Aleena, Jacob, Ana and Evan; sister Christine Hollis, Amherst.

Predeceased by baby daughter Faye Evelyn; brothers Lloyd, Lawrence and Donald; sisters Jessie and Dorothy .

Arrangements have been entrusted to W Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) where her funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2 pm.  Burial will follow in the Leicester Cemetery.
